However, Iain is the embodiment of extreme ownership and worked with his coach and his peers to address all of those issues. He's had almost no staff turnover in the last 18 months, amazing profit growth, won 7 awards for his team's performance, had 2 projects featured in House & Home magazine, and has a 12-month-long waitlist of clients.

Because of his leadership, Iain's business now serves him as much as he does it.

IAIN KENT'S JOURNEY

“When I joined BTA, I was at a very difficult stage in my journey as a business owner. We’d just come off of a year or two of watching our overall profitability decline, despite huge growth to our topline revenue (doing more work for less money), and it was a difficult time with my business partner where it didn’t seem like we were on the same page about the direction of the company, which was causing a lot of issues. To say that I was stressed out would be an understatement – I was angry, resentful, and overall just fed up with constantly feeling like I was running into a wall every time I tried to move things forward. Probably the single biggest benefit of joining/being a part of BTA that I’ve experienced personally is having a sounding board with like-minded individuals as I navigate the crazy journey that business ownership/entrepreneurship is. Prior to joining BTA, I don’t think I fully understood just how isolated I felt as a business owner and how much that, on a good day, contributed to anxiety and, on a bad day, made me think that I must be going crazy – I mean, why the f&@k is running a business so hard?! Once I joined BTA, I found that I immediately had a network of people whom I could speak with who had been through similar struggles at one point or another. Without a doubt, the most important part of this has been the relationship with my coach. Having that one-to-one connection with someone who knows the details of my business but isn’t involved in the operations and is able to give unbiased opinions/suggestions/encouragement has been pivotal.  Having this sounding board has allowed me to clear out a lot of the noise/doubts that come along with entrepreneurship and has also forced me to be far more intentional/strategic in my decision-making as a whole – with the focus being far more on achieving long term goals instead of just swimming around in a pond of day-to-day problems.  

Of course, there’s also been a lot of other benefits – between the training courses, resources available to members, and the BTA events which shouldn’t be understated.  

Since joining BTA, we’ve more than doubled in size (Both in terms of revenue and profitability), we've successfully reorganized the company to make sure the ownership structure was conducive to our operations, and we're better positioned than ever for the future. Personally, I’m also now working far fewer hours than I had been, and the work that I’m doing tends to be far more purposeful and rewarding. I’m also far less stressed out and angry with my company. Without trying to sound cheesy, I can honestly say that we would be in a much different and worse place without being a part of BTA.”
